Which Bags Suit Dry Mortar?

Dry mortar is commonly packed in multiwall kraft valve bags because they support rapid filling, controlled air release, clear printing, and stable pallet formation. The best structure depends on mortar density, particle composition, moisture sensitivity, filling weight, and distribution conditions.

Different Mortars Create Different Packaging Demands

Cement-based masonry mortar is relatively dense, while lightweight plaster or thermal mortar may contain lower-density fillers. Polymer-modified products often include additives that must remain dry to maintain adhesion, water retention, and working performance.

These differences influence how the bag should be manufactured:

  • Fine formulations require stronger dust control.

  • Coarse particles increase internal abrasion.

  • Moisture-sensitive additives may need a barrier layer.

  • Heavy filling weights create greater stress around the ends.

  • High-temperature products require suitable paper and adhesive.

Therefore, dry mortar bags should not be selected only by dimensions or number of paper plies. The packed formula and operating environment must guide the specification.

Decide Between Standard Paper and Barrier Protection

Multiwall kraft paper provides useful strength and breathability. Under dry warehouse conditions and short distribution routes, a correctly designed paper structure may provide sufficient protection.

Higher humidity creates a different risk. Moisture entering the package can cause caking, reduce powder flow, and affect the consistency of the mixed mortar. A PE liner, coated paper, or another barrier structure may be required for export shipping, coastal markets, or extended storage.

The barrier should not block all air release during filling. Its design must allow displaced air to escape without exposing the product to excessive moisture afterward.

Coordinate the Valve With the Filling Machine

Valve dimensions affect both packing speed and cleanliness. The sleeve must fit the nozzle closely, remain stable during filling, and close properly after discharge.

Mortar entering too quickly can force dust through the valve or ventilation holes. When air escapes too slowly, the bag inflates and may remain rounded. A suitable design balances filling pressure, valve construction, paper permeability, and controlled perforation.

Well-matched dry mortar packaging bags should leave the machine with limited surface dust and a compact profile suitable for conveyors and palletizers.

Evaluate Performance Across the Whole Supply Route

Bag testing should continue beyond the filling station. Filled samples need to pass through checkweighing, flattening, conveying, palletizing, wrapping, warehousing, and transportation.

Drop tests help reveal weak corners and pasted ends. Compression checks show whether the bag maintains its shape under stacked loads. A storage trial is particularly valuable when products will be held in humid conditions.

Printing should also remain legible after handling. Product grades, mixing ratios, application instructions, batch codes, and safety information must be easy to identify at warehouses and construction sites.

Information Needed Before Sampling

A dry mortar bag supplier normally requires the following data:

  1. Mortar type and main composition

  2. Target filling weight and bag dimensions

  3. Bulk density and particle characteristics

  4. Nozzle size and filling speed

  5. Storage climate and distribution distance

  6. Desired printing colors and order quantity

Provide these details with the required shelf life and pallet arrangement to receive a suitable bag specification, filling samples, and a quotation for repeat production.
